This 2 hour workshop strips photography back to its roots: you'll learn how to mix chemistry and coat print surfaces with UV sensitive emulsion. While traditional cyanotypes often feature botanicals and silhouetted textures, this class lets you push beyond the basics—send us a personal photograph in advance, and we will turn it into a custom digital negative for you to print. Layer your image with unique objects, personal trinkets, and natural elements to create a truly one-of-a-kind piece.
We’ll guide you step-by-step through UV exposure, development, and creative techniques to unlock rich Prussian blue tones. You’ll walk away with a working grasp of darkroom-free alternative photography and your own custom-created, handcrafted cyanotype artwork!
If you choose to use a personal photograph in your print, please make sure to select the option during checkout.
One photo negative per panel.
You are encouraged to bring personal items to use in your print.
Examples of items that work well: thin and flat jewelry, keys, very thin fabrics, and lace. Basically anything thin and flat to be pressed closely to the print surface.

Join our perfumer craft lab and explore blending materials!
Our craft labs are a great way to explore a new or old craft in a relaxed, low-key environment. During our perfumery labs, Hummingbird House Co-founder Lisa Russell will be available to start you off with the basics of perfumery blending. For more advanced folks, Lisa will be available to help you troubleshoot and evaluate your blends. All Participants will have the opportunity to use pre-selected materials for blending multiple fragrance notes, plus gloves, pipettes, blotters, blending cups, an atomizer, and vials. Lastly, we'll provide basic skeleton formulas to help you get started.
Light snacks and beverages will also be available for everyone’s enjoyment.

Level: All levels, no experience necessary
Additional info: For beginners who have never taken a class, you will first review safety guidelines (eg. gloves, material handling, etc) with Lisa prior to blending. This requires roughly 10- 15 minutes. We do welcome kiddos to join, but we ask parents to exercise discretion. You know your kid best. There will be spillable things, and safety must come first. Lastly, light food and beverages will be available, but they shouldn’t be brought to your blending station. Instead, we ask participants to take a blending break and enjoy snacks and beverages away from their station.
Walk-ins will be accepted, but we recommend reserving your spot in advance.

Fragrance Blending for Candle Making
Join us for a hands-on workshop where you’ll design a custom scent blend and hand-pour your own set of votive candles. This class is ideal for beginners and makers who want to learn fragrance blending, candle safety, and practical pouring techniques in a relaxed, community-focused setting.
What you’ll do
Explore fragrance blending: Learn candle fragrance blending and how it differs from fine fragrance blending
Create a custom scent: sample and blend aroma materials and bases to craft a personalized scent profile.
Learn candle basics: wick selection, wax types, fragrance load, melting temps, and safety guidelines.
Hand-pour your votives: make 3 votive candles to take home
Finish and label: trim wicks and package your candles.
