Upcoming Crafts
Our First Craft Lab is Here!
Our craft labs are a great opportunity to learn or practice in a low-stress, free-flow setting. During this craft lab, we will be practicing crocheting with Artist Chanel Chavira. For beginners, she will show you the basics and help you get started. For our more advanced folks, she will be around to help troubleshoot and discuss any questions you might have.
We’ll also have light refreshments available for everyone to enjoy.
Details
Date & time: June 25th @ 1pm-4pm
Location: Hummingbird House, 2976 24th St, SF, CA
Price: $25 per adult attendee, $12 per kiddo
Skill level: All levels welcome (no experience necessary). Kids are welcome to come with parents, as we have special loop looms for them to practice on.
Additional Details: If you are currently working on a project and would like to work on it during the lab, you are more than welcome. Each attendee will receive a kit that includes yarn, crochet hooks, pom-pom templates, stitch markers, and basic crochet pattern templates. For kiddos attending with their parents, we have loop looms available to make pot holders, coin purses, and more. Walk-ins will be accepted if space allows. We recommend reserving your spot just in case.
Cancellations: Cancellations received 1 week before the event will receive a 50% refund. This ensures we cover the cost of ordered supplies and the artist's time.
Join our perfumer craft lab and explore blending materials!
Our craft labs are a great way to explore a new or old craft in a relaxed, low-key environment. During our perfumery labs, Hummingbird House Co-founder Lisa Russell will be available to start you off with the basics of perfumery blending. For more advanced folks, Lisa will be available to help you troubleshoot and evaluate your blends. All Participants will have kits containing pre-selected materials for blending multiple fragrance notes, along with gloves, pipettes, blotters, blending cups, an atomizer, and vials. Lastly, basic skeleton formulas will be provided to help get you started.
Light snacks and beverages will also be available for everyone’s enjoyment.
Details: July 9th @ 4pm-7pm (Fruit Blends) and July 31st @ 5pm-9pm (wood & musk blends)
Location: Hummingbird House, 2976 24th St, SF, CA
Level: All levels, no experience necessary
Additional info: For beginners who have never taken a class, you will first review safety guidelines (eg. gloves, material handling, etc) with Lisa prior to blending. This requires roughly 10- 15 minutes. We do welcome kiddos to join, but we ask parents to exercise discretion. You know your kid best. There will be spillable things, and safety must come first. Lastly, light food and beverages will be available, but they shouldn’t be brought to your blending station. Instead, we ask participants to take a blending break and enjoy snacks and beverages away from their station.
Walk-ins will be accepted, but we recommend reserving your spot ahead of time.

Performances
The children’s barracks at Theresenshadt is an unusual place to find joy, but then Friedl Dicker-Brandeis was an unusual artist. With only scraps of paper scavenged in the camp, a few painting supplies from home and one small window out of the barracks, Friedl opened a space for children to find moments of reprieve and creative inspiration in otherwise terrifying circumstances.
”Under Friedl’s Wing” - a puppet and painted object play with music and audience art.
"With childlike wisdom, Under Friedl’s Wing tells a harrowing story using the simplest of means. Like Friedl Dicker-Brandeis herself, Jennifer Levine and Jeff Raz understand that love, hope, and bearing witness are far more powerful and enduring than destruction.”
Created and performed by Jennifer Levine
Directed by Jeff Raz
Vocals by Diana Naparst
Accordion by Brad Friedman
