You will learn how to properly load and advance a 35mm roll, meter light accurately using manual settings or phone apps, and choose the right film stocks for your creative vision. Participants will learn manual focus, composition, and proper exposure, leaving with a solid mechanical foundation and the confidence to make every frame count.

Designed to demystify your camera’s dials, buttons, and menus, this hands-on class breaks down the core fundamentals of manual control—including aperture, shutter speed, and ISO—so you can confidently capture or freeze motion, and add depth in your images. Learn the art of the cyanotype print from the ground up. This introductory workshop strips photography back to its elemental roots, learning how to mix and coat archival papers with iron-based emulsion before composing striking silhouette prints using botanicals, translucent textures, and custom photo negatives. We’ll guide you step-by-step through UV exposure, development, and creative techniques to unlock rich, Prussian blue tones. You’ll walk away with a working grasp of darkroom-free alternative photography, and a mini portfolio of unique, handcrafted prints.
